Fourteen years, seven books, eight films, billions of dollars in profits and an incalculable amount of imagination has affected all lead to one point. Numbers could help identify JK Rowling Harry Potter franchise for some, but true fans know that emotion is the best way to quantify the impact of the series. The simple words “Harry Potter” can cause emotional reactions that are specific to the characters and the series, and remember the experiences we shared the story of the year.
The release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 marks the emotional climax of an era and faces almost insurmountable expectations. Unless Rowling (and can), this film could be the final piece of the canon of Harry Potter. This also applies Deathly Hallows Part 2 to meet the hype? I am happy to say that it is.
Before entering the film, I feel some personal context Potter needed. Harry Potter is a series that I have a fan from the beginning. While I was in college when the series began, I was always amused and fascinated by the world, JK Rowling. These books are not just for children, and reading the first few allowed to fill a void in the Star Wars prequels did not. I would like to participate in the midnight news devoured the books she and the tail to see the premiere. Family and friends all together in my passion as I passed along the book. To extend the connection, the first film – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone – was actually one of my first interviews to the camera, video experiences. Suffice it to say, Potter has a special place in my heart and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 was my most anticipated movies of recent years.
It made me feel very happy.
If you have not seen Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, now watch. It is necessary to view. Director David Yates and screenwriter Steve Kloves have no incentive to catch up. Deathly Hallows Part 2 begins – even before the Warner Bros. logo – Part 1, where left off. However, instead of jumping immediately into the action, the film takes a slow, methodical approach yet stoic at first. We dropped back into the world fully aware this is the calm before the storm.
A spectacular – although semi-ran – action scene later, the story finally back at Hogwarts. Yates and composer Alexandre Desplat for the occasion with a professional now iconic themes of John Williams and the fans of the series will start weak in the knees. Yates called the nostalgia that the entire film in an attempt to increase the challenge by reminding us that the whole world – not just Harry, Ron and Hermione – is affected by hunting Horcruxes.
From there Deathly Hallows Part 2 is essentially an action-packed, physically draining toward the inevitable end sprint. If it takes a rare detour extremely important is replaced by the grief of adrenaline.
This rhythm is both the film’s greatest strength and biggest mistake, though. Because we move so fast, the key moments tend to feel stuck or obscured. Yates beautifully punctuates some of the iconic moments of signature, and the work, others are just as disappointing. For a fan, it’s easy to forgive these errors because we are so engrossed in the story – it’s my personal opinion – but it’s a totally valid criticism to say Yates misses the mark on occasion.
Another criticism of fans familiar with the source material may be excused where Deathly Hallows, Part 2 is the original text. Some critics but bizarre scenes of the book remain intact, and after seven films, might seem appropriate. Fans will love them and say that Yates did not draw books, but however there are other cases in which it will not only off-book, but Rowling did better on the text. The precursor film and clarifies some of the elements of the story more confusing and exciting climax provides a more confrontational than Rowling. As far as the public will choose what love and hate about the movie, Yates himself some questionable choices. His biggest choice is one of the studio was certainly a large part of it was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Relics part 2 post in 3D. The effect is not necessary, but always fresh and rewarding. Choose your poison.
Finally, when the foot is the gas pedal and we know the end is near is when Deathly Hallows Part 2 really shines. This is an important film in many ways and, as a viewer the impression that by the end. Emotions are layered on thick, and although it fades to black faster than Peter Jackson did with The Return of the King, it is of course to achieve this level of Oscar-winning Gravitas. It is not entirely successful, but not enough to be very rewarding.
Whether you’re a fan of the books and movies for years, or only Potter knows the story of the big screen, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 does not disappoint.Non-fans might find it strange, but who cares? They should not have to come after the seventh first place. This movie is the cherry close-enough-to-perfect on top of a franchise that will be remembered for years to come. It’s mature, beautiful, and you will be sad – but happy – when you’re done.
